The Kings appeared to have found stability at small forward with Francisco García in the starting lineup.
García, however, again aggravated his left calf strain in Thursday's practice. García missed his third consecutive game with the injury Friday night against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena.
With García no longer day-to-day with the injury, Kings coach Paul Westphal started Omri Casspi in García's spot.
García said he expected to miss two weeks.
"I thought we were playing well and winning games with Tyreke (Evans) healthy and 'Cisco starting at that spot,"
Westphal said. "It seemed like we had settled into a good thing."
In games García and Evans started together, the Kings were 4-4.
Westphal hoped to not disrupt the rotation if García would be back soon by starting Donté Greene twice. With that not the case, Westphal is going with Casspi and hopes he finds his shooting touch.
"We need him to have a hot streak now,"
Westphal said of Casspi.
Casspi came into Friday's game shooting 39.7 percent, slightly below his three-point percentage of 39.9 percent.
Casspi missed 10 of his 13 shots in Wednesday's loss to Portland.
"I need to knock them down – simple as that,"
Casspi said. "I feel real comfortable with my jump shot and I'm getting good shots."
Casspi has been a strong rebounder this month when he's played a lot.
"He's a good rebounder,"
Westphal said. "He really gets a lot of defensive rebounds for a (small forward) and it's pretty sure that he'll get his share and more when he gets minutes."
Casspi said he tries to get all the rebounds and relies on assistant coaches Truck Robinson and Mario Elie to help him stay aggressive on the glass.
"Truck and Mario, during the game they keep me focused on that part of the game,"
Casspi said. "I'm just trying to be the best player I can be and a big part of my game is rebounding."
"During the game, Truck tells me how many I missed that I had an opportunity to get, and usually I don't miss a lot of opportunities to get rebounds. He keeps me updated."
Keeping count – The starting lineup of Evans, Beno Udrih, DeMarcus Cousins, Jason Thompson and Casspi was the 17th different starting lineup this season.
